Dots Series

The Dot Series began as a desire to return to the fundamentals of visual elements, using the simplest means to explore the intrinsic qualities of dots. The shifts in perspective that occur between one dot and another constantly remind us of the familiar triad — dot, line, plane. This series attempts to more vividly demonstrate the characteristics of dots and the possibilities of their combinations.

Unlike Op Art, which is generated from a systematic, almost theorem-like concept, the Dot Series is an open experiment with the possibilities of painting. The artist borrows the optical effects that dots can produce, but only as a point of departure for further development; the emphasis is on evolutionary process rather than on any fixed conclusion or conceptual expression.


點系列

「《點系列》的出現是希望回歸視覺元素的基礎，用單純的元素創造出點的特性，在點與點間的透視產生出的視覺變化是為常被提及的點、線、面，此系列的嘗試能更強烈地顯示點的特性及其組合的可能性。《點系列》與歐普藝術[Op Art]的分別是歐普藝術以系統性的結論而生出的概念，而我的《點系列》是為繪畫的可能性作出試驗，好借用它的視感效果結合進一步的發展，是一種發展過程多於結論或概念的表現。」
